One of the very interesting facts about Michigan is that it has the longest suspension bridge which connects the upper and the lower peninsulas of the state of Michigan. This bridge is called the Mackinac Bridge which is pronounced with a silent “c” at the end of the word.
This massive bridge was built in the 1880s and was formally opened on November 1st, 1957 which ended the decades of the two peninsulas connected by ferries. With a length of 3,800 feet the Mackinac Bridge is the world’s third longest suspension bridge in the United States of America and the twelfth longest in the world.
The bridge has a particular toll fee varying for every different type of automobile. There are provisions for a renovation program which costs up to $300 million and this is funded from the collection of the toll fee the year around. It takes seven years to complete the painting of the entire bridge and the moment they complete the painting they start all over again. Hence this shows that the bridge is definitely maintained well. There is also a bridge walk held here every Labor Day where the bridge opens up for people to take a walk and view its beautiful scenery. Thousands of people cross this bridge on foot who are led by the governor of the state and this definitely upholds the history and significance of this bridge making it a must-see places in Michigan.

The Grand Hotel is located on a small island located at the eastern ends of the straits of Mackinac, known as the Mackinac Island in Michigan. The hotel was constructed in the 19th century and the developers credit the hotel with having the largest porch in the world. The front porch is somewhere around 200 m in length and overlooks a vast Tea Garden.
The hotel has a sound history with eminent guests like Harry Truman, John Kennedy, George Bush Sr., and Bill Clinton visiting the hotel. This has also been visited by Thomas Edison and Mark Twain. There are 385 rooms altogether and no two rooms are alike. There are four categories of rooms and the smallest rooms cost around $480 for a single day. There is a Presidential suite that is located at the center of the hotel with a balcony over the porch. In early 2000, Masco Cottage, a detached structure was added to the Grand Hotel.
The transport is by horse carriages from the dock to the hotel as the island does not permit motor vehicles.
The hotel is owned by R.D. (Dan) Musser III and it has been made a national History Landmark from 1989.

As responsible inhabitants of Earth, we are obligated to nurture and sustain this planet. With growing education and technology in green sustainable energy and building resources, Michigan has taken actions to ensure safety and health is a top priority in this great state. Non-profit organizations such as Michigan GREEN, consists of energy consultants and companies who have joined forces with schools, government agencies and conscious individuals to promote the cause of renewable and green efficiency throughout the U.S. Its goals include increasing public awareness on energy efficiency, renewable energy and application of new green technologies to increase the youth’s awareness of energy conservation.

Harvesting deposits of natural asbestos, homes and buildings built after 1980 have the likelihood of containing forms of asbestos. There are many variables to consider when purchasing or remodeling a home. As long term costs and technology are constantly evolving, so is the need for eco-friendly and safe building materials. Asbestos removal does involve health risks such as peritoneal mesothelioma and pericardial mesothelioma. It is important to find the right professionals who are armored with proper safety gear to remove all asbestos from the sight. Non-regulated asbestos material can be legally performed by homeowners, regular contractors, or licensed asbestos abatement contractors as long as the National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) are not violated.

Of interest to those involved in real estate, A citizen based environmental advocacy group called Environment Michigan, is combining independent research and a tough minded strategy to overcome the opposition of special interests who seek to undermine pro environment approaches. Focusing to rid Michigan of asbestos use and other harmful materials, they also focus to protect the water and open spaces. Environment Michigan is working hard to give the state the healthy environment that the people deserve.

Detroit Lions - This Detroit (Michigan) based American football team is playing from the 1930. The team is a member of the NFC (National Football Conference) North Division on the NFL (National Football League). They do play their home games at Ford Field, Detroit downtown. In the beginning, team was known as the Portsmouth Spartans since they began playing in Portsmouth, Ohio in 1929. They begun as an independent professional American football team, one among such teams in the Scioto and Ohio river valleys. Later, in 1930 they joined in the NFL and so the official name got changed.

Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions won 4 NFL championships, the final one in 1957. This is the second team that holds the longest NFL championship drought, standing next to Arizona Cardinals. The team is yet to qualify for Super Bowl. Moreover, they qualified only 9 times for the playoffs after 1957.

The 2008 Detroit Lions season is going to be the 75th season in Detroit and 79th for the Lions in the NFL. There are high hopes for the Lions entering the season, to improve their level better. The following 17 weeks of games will be heart throbbing for the team members as well as for the Head coach, Rod Marinelli (2006 to present). The team was served by 24 Head coaches so far, starting from Hal Griffin (1930).

The official radio station are WXYT-AM 1270 AM and WXYT-FM 97.1 FM. If a conflict with Detroit Red Wings (hockey) or Detroit Tigers (baseball), the FM station serves as the chief station for the Detroit Lions.

Regardless, the fans are expecting a victory after 50 years of losing ceremony and are thus getting hold of Detroit Lions Tickets to the matches well in advance!
